MONONA, WI June 5, 2013 SHINE Medical Technologies, Inc. (SHINE), a Wisconsin-based company dedicated to being the world leader in safe, clean, and affordable production of medical isotopes and cancer treatment elements, has submitted the remaining chapters of its Construction Permit application to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).The initial filing in late March was the first formal step by SHINE in seeking an NRC permit to begin construction of its medical isotope facility in Janesville, Wisconsin. The earlier submission included the environmental analysis and general and financial information about SHINE. The chapters filed late last week included a preliminary design and additional safety analyses, as required by federal regulations.

SHINE’s filing begins the NRC’s process of formal acceptance and review, which is expected to take approximately eighteen months from the initial submission in late March.

“The completion of our construction permit application and submission to NRC is a significant milestone for SHINE’s plans to construct and operate a facility to produce medical isotopes in Janesville,” said SHINE CEO and founder Greg Piefer. “Our team worked hard to complete the filing, and it represents an important step forward for building and operating a facility that will address an important worldwide health care issue.”

About SHINE Technologies

Based in Janesville, Wisconsin, SHINE deploys its safe, cost-effective and environmentally friendly fusion technology in a stepwise approach. Its systems are used to inspect industrial components in aerospace, defense, energy and other sectors. SHINE’s proprietary medical isotope production processes create non-carrier-added lutetium-177 and are expected to create molybdenum-99. In the future, SHINE plans to scale its fusion technology to help solve one of energy’s toughest hurdles by recycling nuclear waste. Through a purpose-driven and phased approach, SHINE aims to generate fusion power to deliver clean, abundant energy that could transform life on Earth. Want to learn more about SHINE?
